Sorenstam left golf in December 2008 after amassing 72 victories, including 10 majors. She said that she wanted to start a business and a family. Looks like things are going according to plan.
On Annika’s Blog she wrote: “We have had a lot of exciting changes in the past new months, and adding a new addition to our family later this fall will certainly be at the top of that list. We are absolutely thrilled and look forward to this new chapter in our lives.”
Sorenstam has a clothing line with Cutter & Buck, a limited wine label with Wente Vineyards and a signature scent by SA Fragrances. The talented athlete is currently involved in two redesign projects, one at Patriots Point Links Course in Charleston, South Carolina and the other at Red Mountain Resort in British Columbia.
At the age of 39, Annika Sorenstam is the best-known female golfer in the world. Inducted into the LPGA and World Golf Halls of fame in 2003, this Swede has now retired from professional competitions to concentrate on her family and other businesses. But she’s still staying in shape…
When she was a pro-golfer, Annika says she enjoyed lifting weights and would do three sets, always pushing herself to do better. She hated having to work her legs, and preferred focusing on the muscle groups in her back and chest.
Annika has been working with her personal trainer Kai Fusser for more than six years now, but the duo tend to avoid the usual exercises.
“We use a lot of dumbbells, a lot of the cable-cross machine – with that, I can load your body up from different angles, and you have to figure out how to stay straight,” Fusser says. “I don’t like machines. With many of those exercises, say, the leg extension, you need to stay balanced, but the machine stays balanced for you. We want you to have to balance your whole body.”
