Anna Kournikova Russian Tennis Star

Anna Kournikova is sculpted like a goddess. The tennis court was her stage, where she simultaneously (and successfully) flirted with and stunned thousands of admirers. This Russian pinup had the power of filling up arenas when she was scheduled to play. How many women can be credited with the same feat?

Men's magazines like FHM always have included her among the hottest women, and she was named Sexiest Woman in the World in FHM's 100 Sexiest Girls poll in 2002. Her sex appeal has also managed to sell calendars, and the Sports Illustrated issue with Anna Kournikova on the cover was one of the highest-selling issues the magazine has ever published. So it looks like Anna Kournikova's sexiness is unanimous: it doesn't get much hotter than her.Not only is she the most photographed woman in the sports world, she's also one of the richest, thanks to several million-dollar endorsements. In 2002, it was reported that Anna Kournikova made $10 million a year. Since a contract with Adidas depended on victories and high rankings, she didn't reach her market potential, but she is raking in $3 million with the athletic wear manufacturer.
As for media appearances, Anna was seen everywhere, from 2001's Me, Myself & Irene and Enrique's "Escape" video in 2002, to a spread in Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issues in 2004 and 2005. Not only does she remain one of the top searches on the internet, someone even named a widespread virus in her honor in 2001, which wreaked havoc on the web.
Tournaments that didn't include Anna Kournikova had 30% less attendance. Her matches always sold out and it's safe to say that fans weren't crowding the courts in order to watch Anna Kournikova pummel her opponent.

Her fame has less to do with her accomplishments and more to do with her sex appeal, attitude and antics. Still, we'll give her some credit as a tennis player. Her greatest feats in the game include winning the European Championships and Italian Open juniors at age 14, and becoming the youngest tennis player to win a Fed Cup match. By the end of 1995, Anna Kournikova was crowned ITF Junior World Champion. In 1996, Anna Kournikova went pro and the tennis world would never be the same. She reached the fourth round in that year's U.S. Open and the semifinals at 1997's Wimbledon.

After staying in the top 10 singles rankings for several years and managing to defeat four consecutive top 10 players in a single tournament, she won a Grand Slam doubles title with Martina Hingis at the 1999 Australian Open.

Ever since 2003's Australian Open, Anna Kournikova has been plagued with a back injury that forced her to pull out of that year's Wimbledon tournament. Unfortunately, Anna Kournikova has suffered injuries since 2000 -- but fortunately, she has still managed to remain in the spotlight, just where we like her.
Anna Sergeevna Kurnikova; born June 7, 1981) is a semi-retired Russian professional tennis player and model. Her celebrity status made her one of the best known tennis players worldwide. At the peak of her fame, fans looking for images of Kournikova made her name one of the most common search strings on the Internet search engineAlthough also successful in singles, reaching #8 in the world in 2000, Kournikova’s specialty has been doubles, where she has at times been the world’s number one-ranked player. With Martina Hingis as her partner, she won Grand Slam titles inAustralia in 1999 and 2002. Kournikova’s major-league tennis career has been curtailed for the past several years, and possibly ended, by serious back and spinal problems.
And she's laughing all the way to the bank with sponsors that include Omega watches, Berlei lingerie, Lycos, and sports equipment company Yonex. In addition to ads, billboards and magazine covers, Anna Kournikova has also graced the tabloids, thanks to relationships with hockey players Pavel Bure and Sergei Fedorov (who she was rumored to have married), and her on-again, off-again romance with pop star Enrique Iglesias.

Cesc Fabregas Great Footballer

Francesc "Cesc" Fàbregas i Soler born 4 May 1987 is a Spanish footballer who plays as a central midfielder. He captains Premier League side Arsenal and also plays for the Spanish national team.

Fàbregas started his career as a trainee with FC Barcelona but was signed by Arsenal in September 2003 at the age of 16. Following injuries to key midfielders in the 2004–05 season, he established himself as Arsenal's starting central midfielder and playmaker. He went on to break several of the club's records, earning a reputation as one of the best young players for his position.

In international football, the Spaniard's national career began when he represented the Under-17 side at the 2003 FIFA U-17 World Championship in Finland. As a result of his club performances, he was called up to the senior squad in 2006. He has played in the 2006 FIFA World Cup, UEFA Euro 2008 and 2010 FIFA World Cup, helping Spain to become eventual winners in the two most recent tournaments.

Style of play

Originally brought to Arsenal as a youth to slowly develop via the League Cup, Fàbregas was unexpectedly deployed as Arsenal's starting central midfielder following injuries to fellow midfielders Patrick Vieira, Gilberto Silva and Edu during the 2004–05 season. Fàbregas functions mostly as a playmaker and his main asset is his passing range. Having been one of the most coveted and celebrated young talents in the game since he became an Arsenal regular, he has been described as being the kernel of Arsenal's first team, bringing vision, creativity, and an innate understanding of timing and space to Arsenal's intricate passing game, displaying maturity that belies his age. He often assumes responsibility for set pieces, taking corners, free kicks and penalties.

Fàbregas has stated in interviews that while Vieira served as his role model and mentor, he styles his game after his childhood hero and compatriot Josep Guardiola. In that sense he is of a different mould from his Arsenal predecessors who play in the same position, preferring skill over strength. Initially, this led to criticisms of his lightweight frame and less aggressive style of play, with former teammate Ashley Cole criticising the Spaniard as "an unproven featherweight" in his autobiography.

However, Fàbregas' statistics have improved over the seasons, and he has adopted a more aggressive style of play. His importance to the team as the main creative force was perhaps first reflected in his contributing 16 assists in all competitions in the 2006–07 season.By his own admission, scoring was a weaker part of his game in his first few seasons at Arsenal; wasteful finishing also being symptomatic of the larger problem surrounding Arsenal in the 2005–06 and 2006–07 seasons. This changed initially in the 2007–08 season when he scored 11 goals in his first 16 games, and Arsenal manager Wenger claimed that the Spaniard's previous inability to score was down to a mental state, and even compared the Spaniard to Michel Platini, a French midfielder renowned for scoring. There were also concerns raised over the large number of games Fàbregas has played for club and country in the last few seasons, but he has largely avoided long spells on the sidelines.

Andy Roddick Famous Tennis player

Andy Roddick, fought back after losing the opening set to reach his second straight final at a Masters 1000 event with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 defeat of Rafael Nadal in Miami on Friday.

Less than a fortnight after losing to Ivan Ljubicic in the Indian Wells trophy match, Roddick was back at the business end of an event as he waited for a Sunday finals opponent from Swedish fifth seed Robin Soderling and Czech number 16 Tomas Berdych, conqueror of Roger Federer at Crandon Park.Brisbane, Jan 4 : Top seed Andy Roddick gave his October knee injury a solid test Monday, firing 15 aces in a first-round defeat of Australian Peter Luczak 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 at the Brisbane International.

The American, playing in Australia for only the second time outside of the January Open, was joined as a winner by second seed Radek Stepanek. The veteran Czech out put Australian John Millman 6-4, 6-0.

Roddick has said that his knee injury is still not 100 percent but he expects to be fit for the Grand Slam start Jan 18 in Melbourne.

The top seeded Andy Roddick of USA survived a scare from Ivo Karlovic of Croatia and he defeated his opponent in straight sets by 7-6 (7/4), 7-6 (7/5) to advance in to semifinals of the Washington Classic tournament on Friday.

The fifth ranked Roddick connected 74 percent of first serves in the match as compared to 59 percents by his opponent. However, Karlovic smashed 13 aces as compared to only seven aces by Roddick.

Roddick will meet with John Isner in the semifinal. John ousted eighth seeded Tomas Berdych of Czech in a three setter match by 6-3, 6-7 (10/12), 6-2. Roddick and John had met each other only once in the past.
Andy Roddick marked his best performance in the year 2009 when he posed a threat to Roger Federer to claim his 15th Grand Slam title. He is an American player and is former World No. 1 Player. He claims his winning streaks easily on clay and grass courts. He is among the top ranked US players and hence is the only American to make his way in the top 10 rankings. He marked his important in by claiming the title of US open in the year 2003. He eventually made his way to finals of other grand slams as well. Roger Federer was the man who posed a great difficulty at the finals all time and he lost most of the matches to him. However, he along with Federer holds the record to be in the top 10 rankings since the year 2002.

Andy Roddick starts his attacking in the court from the first serve itself and he is widely known for his impeccable and strong serves. He even holds a record of the fastest served ball. Over the years he has been a permanent member of the Davis Cup team of America and has also helped to win the Davis Cup in the year 2007.

The year 2009 paved his way to the most prestigious final of the tournaments, but he could not win the most win. However, he has a long list of tournaments to witness in the year 2010 where he can pose a severe challenge to other top players and fight back his World No. 1 ranking.
Former Boca Raton resident, Andy Roddick has decided to withdraw himself from this week’s Delray Beach International Tennis Championships due to an illness.

Roddick, the No. 8 player in the world, was penciled as the top seed at the event.

Before he even got to Delray, he had already complained about feeling ill before beating Milos Raonic in Sunday’s final in Memphis for his 30th career win.

“When I woke up yesterday, I felt like I got hit like a bus.” said Roddick to reporters at the Delray ITC Media Conference earlier this afternoon.

Roddick, who played his high school tennis in Boca Raton, made his ATP debut at the 2000 Delray Beach ITC event and was the runner-up in 2002.

“I’m very disappointed. I’ve waited too long to come back and play this tournament,” said Roddick, “It’s just unfortunate timing. I was looking forward to coming back. I honestly don’t feel I can go out there and give my best.”

Regardless of his withdraw from the Delray Beach ITC, Roddick is still expected to lead the United States against Chile in a Davis Cup first-round tie in Santiago next week.

This week’s top seed now in the Delray Beach ITC is American Mardy Fish, who was the 2009 champion and 2003 runner-up.
